The Client
Our client is a global enterprise software company expanding its commercial reach across Africa. As part of its growth strategy, the business wanted to explore Kenya’s talent market and establish local sales presence before committing to a full entity setup. To do this without taking on the cost, delay, and administrative burden of incorporation too early, the client partnered with Workforce Africa’s Employer of Record solution.

The Need
The challenge was not simply about hiring one person in Kenya. It was about entering a promising market without making the wrong structural decision too early. The client needed to place a Territory Field Sales Manager in Kenya to test market potential, build commercial traction, and begin developing local relationships. But setting up a local entity before market viability was fully proven would have created avoidable cost, administrative burden, and operational drag. At the same time, delaying hiring until incorporation was complete could have slowed market entry and weakened momentum. The client needed a practical middle path that would allow it to move quickly, employ talent compliantly, and control costs while keeping future options open. That required a trusted in-country partner with the local expertise and execution capability to make market entry feel lean, compliant, and commercially sensible from day one.
What We Did
We deployed our Employer of Record model in Kenya to support the client’s Territory Field Sales Manager, a market-facing role responsible for building local relationships, driving pipeline growth, and strengthening the company’s commercial presence in-country. Workforce Africa provided the compliant employment structure required to engage the employee legally in Kenya, prepared locally aligned employment documentation, managed payroll administration, supported statutory deductions and remittances, and provided ongoing HR support and guidance on Kenyan employment requirements. While the client’s Talent Acquisition team handled recruitment, Workforce Africa supplied the employment infrastructure and local expertise that allowed the business to begin operating immediately without building its own payroll, compliance, and HR structure from scratch.

The Outcome
The partnership gave the client a controlled and cost-effective route into Kenya. By using Workforce Africa’s Employer of Record solution, the business was able to employ local sales talent without setting up an entity, avoid the immediate cost of local incorporation and employment infrastructure, and begin testing commercial opportunity with greater speed and confidence. The client gained peace of mind that employment compliance, payroll, and local HR obligations were being managed correctly, while also preserving the flexibility to establish a local entity later if the market proved strong enough to justify it. What could have become a heavy, expensive, and premature market-entry decision became a leaner, safer, and more commercially intelligent way to begin operating in Kenya.
