Paid Leave

A minimum of 21 working days of annual paid leave days are granted to employees. Maternity leave is a minimum of 12 weeks paid leave while paternity leave is optional.

Employers are responsible for obtaining work & residence permits for their expatriate employees.

Termination Notice

Effective dismissal without notice anytime if an employee is guilty of serious misconduct or any serious breach in observance of employer’s safety guidelines after thorough investigation.
In any case other than the above, employer shall give one month notice or one month salary in lieu of notice and the same apply for an employee.

Provision of health insurance for employees is a common practice, but it is not mandatory.

Important Information

All foreign workers (whether working for an employer or self-employed) must ensure that they have a valid residential permit to work in the country and it is mandatory that this must be renewed annually. Failure to do so will be liable to prosecution and in the event of removal from the country, the employer shall bear the cost.
